SCWLA President & Senior advocate Mahalakshmi Pavani, appearing for the association said that child pornography was spreading like moral cancer and “freedom of speech cannot create a dent in the national character or moral dent.” As reported by the leading daily "The Hindu" , A Bench of Justices Dipak Misra and S.K. Singh was reacting to a submission made by the Supreme Court Women Lawyers Association that there were instances where school bus drivers and conductors forced children under their care to watch porn and sexually assaulted them owing to easy and free access to porn, including child pornography, in the country. |

During the proceedings at NGT, advocate Bhakti Pasrija Sethi, appearing for Supreme Court Women Lawyers Association (SCWLA), submitted before the bench that higher charges on vehicles would not have any impact on reducing air pollution. “They can pay more tax and still cause pollution. How can we deal with the issue of air pollution this way," she asked. |

SCWLA, represented through senior advocate Mahalakshmi Pavani, has contended that the Supreme Court in 2001 had categorically stated that vehicles which transit through Delhi neither adhere to the vehicular standards namely Euro-II nor they use low sulphur and benzene fuel. "It is, therefore, proposed that with effect from January 15, 2002, no heavy, medium or light goods vehicles will ply on inter-state routes by passing through Delhi or New Delhi.

Commissioner of Police is directed to formulate a scheme in this regard and give due publicity to all concerned and implement it," the apex court had said. SCWLA has sought directions for framing of appropriate guidelines for diversion of the commercial vehicles which pass through Delhi and deputation of special police force on the borders to ensure action and check on entry of these vehicles. |
"More hospitals with better facilities need to come up all across the country. People need to made aware of about their rights. Court has passed many rules for the people but they are not aware of them," said Prerna Kumari of Supreme Court Women Lawyers Association.
